Providence Celebrates NeighborWorks Week

During NeighborWorks Week (June 9-14), Providence Community Housing and over 250 other NeighborWorks network organizations across the country celebrated the successes of communities and how NeighborWorks America and residents work together to empower people to enhance their lives. Throughout the year, NeighborWorks network organizations empower people to take steps to achieve their goals, such as make their community safer, find and maintain secure housing, and ensure financial stability, which leads to thriving, healthier communities. In fiscal year 2024, the NeighborWorks network provided 431,549 housing and counseling services; created 16,269 new homeowners; and constructed, acquired and preserved 13,542 rental homes.

Providence Community Housing has a greater impact in our work to build affordable homes and strong communities because we are part of the NeighborWorks network of nearly 250 independent nonprofits with similar community development missions. We share experiences, develop new strategies, and benefit from the support, training, and resources that come from being a part of NeighborWorks America.

We had the honor of sharing our successes this week with attendees of the CHAM (Consortium for Housing and Asset Management) Conference that was held in New Orleans. Over 50 attendees boarded a tour bus that explored the Lafitte-Treme community, where Providence has focused significant efforts in overall community development. Providence CEO, Terri North, guided the tour, which featured four projects in which Providence has played or is playing an active role. North shared lessons learned through participating in all aspects of affordable housing.
